Swell FAQs
Swell’s purpose is to bring women in the outdoor community together while providing a welcoming, intimate environment for women to share resources and their experiences. Our hope is that Swell offers women an opportunity to create a deeper, more comfortable and joyful connection with the outdoors through the variety of programming and activities on site. We want to help you find your new adventure friend, your new favorite women-forward gear brand or your new favorite outdoor hobby.
Q: Who is able to attend Swell?
This event is for ALL WOMEN; so, if you identify as a woman, we hope to see you there!
Q: What is the venue like?
North Folk Park is a rustic, public park about an hour outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. The park offers hiking and mountain biking trails throughout as well as river and mountain access.
Q: Are there any restrooms or showers on site?
There are multiple onsite restrooms with flushing toilets and running water (yay!). We will also have portable restrooms with hand washing stations dispersed throughout the event site. There are no public showers available at Swell.
Q: Do I have the ability to leave and come back during the event?
The campground gates will be open during the entirety of Swell, meaning you have the ability to come and go as you would please. This also means attendees can arrive for Swell and leave at whatever time is best for their schedules.
Q: I’m a last-minute planner, can I show up and buy a ticket on site?
We understand how it goes, so we’ll have tickets available during the event. To purchase, head to the Outspring table during the Swell Market hours (Saturday from 9:00a – 5:00p and Sunday from 9:00a – 3:00p).
Q: Can I have a fire at my campsite?
For general admission passes, there will be fire pits available for use at the boweries (pavilions) throughout the park. If you purchased a private camping spot or yurt, your site will include a fire ring. Weber County parks are providing firewood (have we mentioned how awesome they are?!).
Q: Is water available?
This is a Leave No Trace event and our team is providing water refill stations, so we ask that attendees bring reusable water bottles and coffee mugs!
Q: Will there be cell service, internet or power sources on site?
Cell service and internet are extremely limited at the park. If you are looking to unplug, great! If not, consider bringing a personal hotspot with you. There are not any public power sources available, so we encourage bringing a portable power source with you.
Q: Where can I dispose of my trash on site?
Our event ethos is to Leave No Trace and reduce your waste. Please plan to pack in/pack out and leave the plastics/disposables at home!
There will be trash bins throughout the venue and our team is managing waste diversion; meaning that we will be separating out recyclables and compostable items from the general waste, then disposing to the proper locations. Sustainability is a cornerstone of outdoor recreation, so we are proud to ensure we are diverting as much waste as possible!
Q: Are there any food or beverages available for purchase at the event?
There will not be any food or beverage vendors on site.
Q: Is alcohol being served at this event?
We are not providing or offering any alcohol for purchase, but guests are permitted to bring their own beverages to consume responsibly.
Q: What is included with a festival-style campsite?
Festival-style camping for general admission camping tickets includes one (1) 15’ x 25’ campsite to park your car, pitch a tent (or two) and add any other hangout items (chairs, an easy up, etc.) that you would like!
Q: Can I bring my RV or rig with me instead of sleeping in a tent?
Yes! We have space for rigs up to 35’ (please contact us if your rig is larger than that). The gravel road up to the venue is windy with a modest grade, so we ask that you use caution when driving your rig to Swell.
Q: What kind of ticket should I purchase if I plan to camp at a friend’s site?
If your friend has already purchased a camp spot and you do not need your car parked at your site, we recommend purchasing a Carless Camping Pass. With this ticket, your car will be parked in the overflow parking area near the main event area.
Q: What should I bring for camping at the event?
This is a rustic event. We recommend you bring all of your typical equipment for car camping adventures. You can also bring grills and other campsite cooking essentials with you.
Q: Does it cost extra to participate in any of the activities happening at Swell?
Our Friday morning Outdoor Industry Program is an additional fee, but everything from our Welcome party Friday evening through Sunday evening is included with your ticket! If you are interested in attending the Outdoor Industry Program pre-event workshops and networking, purchase the Outdoor Industry Pass instead of the general weekend passes. If you already purchased your ticket but want to add on the Friday pre-event program, email us at Swell@TheOutspring.com.
Q: Do I need to register in advance for any of the programs happening at Swell?
You do not need to register in advance for any of the activities and sessions happening at Swell. Our MTB rides will have a limited number of bikes available, but we are offering multiple rides to make sure everyone has an opportunity to take part!
Q: Where can I learn about the programs and Swell schedule?
You can find more details about the program available on our schedule page.
Q: Are children allowed to attend?
Swell conversations and programs are intended for adult audiences.
Q: Are dogs allowed?
Well-behaved dogs are permitted but must stay leashed.
Q: Any idea on the weather?
We are anticipating nice, sunny days and cooler evenings. While the weather can be fickle, current reports are showing a high of 83 and a low of 59. We suggest bringing weather and rain gear just in case.
Q: Is the event site wheelchair accessible?
The initial parking area for North Folk park is paved, but parking and camping for Swell will predominantly take place in grassy field areas of the park. The Swell Market area and general camping take place on slightly uneven terrain with a grade.
