Real bad reviews of parks: apparently America's best idea wasn't that great

I've always loved design, and spent more time in school doodling in the margins than actually doing my homework. This grew into a deep love of typography (I'm well known for my font identification skills in certain circles). I have a degree in graphic design and advertising and extensive training in hand lettering and calligraphy, and I’ve worked with big and small businesses to make their visions come to life for the last decade.
I live and work out of a historic Victorian house in Raleigh, North Carolina with my husband, Taylor, and our feisty cat, Suki.

I love making work that celebrates the outdoors, an active lifestyle, and the ups and downs of creative entrepreneurship. When I’m not creating for clients, I’m probably backpacking, tending to my 42 house plants, or fixing up my house - or working on passion projects, like Subpar Parks, which was turned into a New York Times Bestselling book in 2021, and was a finalist in the Good Reads Choice Awards for Humor book of the year.

My work has been featured in O Magazine, Real Simple, the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, the LA Times, the New York Times, Outside.com, Climbing.com, Buzzfeed, Atlas Obscura, and more.

I am proud to donate regularly to the National Park Foundation to support the preservation of the incredible National Parks.
